If you have a daughter, she has a one in five chance of being sexually abused before she turns twelve. One in five little girls under the age of twelve has been molested nationally by someone claiming the only thing they are guilty of is love. Through this paper you will find facts and statistics showing that 92% of sexually abused children are not molested by some unknown on the street, but by a relative, close family friend or person of authority. You will discover that most molestations are not one time offences but continue for months and sometimes years before ever being disclosed. You will also learn the shockingly high number of white middle to upper class offenders. This author will explore the offenders control over their victim and attempt to explain the victim’s silence. Lastly, we will look at the ability to rehabilitate and reintegrate sexual predators safely into society.
The Dimensions of Justice, an article found in What’s Right and Wrong in Business by R. Gomez , is a detailed discussion on the the three types of justice (called dimensions by the article title) that are found in all business environments. In the article, Gomez compares and contrasts the three, giving examples of each to prove his claims. Using this article, through the relationships that are made by Gomez, and using the examples that he makes, it is possible to discern and to draw a parallel between his account of what justice is, and that of Aristotle’s, using his discussions, given in his texts in Book V, of Nicomachean Ethics. To do this, we will first look at justice as accounted by Aristotle, and then define justice in accordance with Gomez, and finally we will compare and contrast these two articles to learn the true meanings of justice and, ultimately, discover if Gomez’s arguments are grounded in Aristotle’s ethical background pertaining to this topic, and see if any significant differences arise in their explanations.
In every text thus far assigned, the female sex has been largely ignored. Men write of a ‘Social Contract’ where a person’s freedoms and rights are taken into account, only if that person is a man. Rousseau is the first to address women and how they should be viewed and treated under his sexual contract.
Breast Cancer
It was a nice September day when I was fifteen years old. My parents told me they had something serious to tell me. My mind was racing. It could be divorce, but I didn’t think so, my parents are happy together. It could be that we are moving or someone close to me died. Then, they told me, that a couple of weeks ago my mother found out that she had breast cancer. I was scared and shocked. I had no idea what to think. I was speechless. I went down to my room that night and cried my heart out. I was so scared of what was going to happen. Just thinking about how my mom could die from this, was the scariest thing I have ever imagined, and it was like it was coming true. I struggled the next week, especially in school. I cried almost every night that week. My mother thought I had no emotion about it, but that was not true. I just didn’t want her to feel different. I wanted to treat her like she was normal. I just did not want her to feel like my whole life was changing because of her. The next couple of weeks my mother went through two different surgeries. Then she started chemotherapy. She started losing her hair. That was a real tough time in her life, she broke down, and I really had to be there for her. I told her, “Losing your hair is better than dying. You have had forty-two years of good and bad hair days. One year without hair will not kill you, but keep you around. Then you will have forty more years of hair.” After that she went through radiation. She is in remission and has to take pills for a few more years to keep the cancer away. It has been three years and she is clear from all cancer, but has side affects everyday from what she went through to get rid of the cancer. This is not the only woman going through cancer.
Legalization of Same Sex Marriages is it right or wrong. “In 2003 when the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to ban a marriage between two individuals of the same sex” (www.uua.org, 2008) it sparked new controversies and debates all over the United States. This has sparked new issues to be raised in Congress to put into law that marriage would consist of a union between a man and a woman and not two genders of the same sex. This ruling has caused many states to pass state laws banning the union of the same sex and declaring it a violation of state law. “In 2008 California and Connecticut followed suit with Massachusetts and the Supreme Courts of these states stopped the ban on same-sex marriages.” (www.uua.org, 2008) With this taking place it has caused debates between Religious factors and liberals throughout the country.
There are three types of ethical systems. The normative ethical system can be broken down into three categories: Deontological ethics, Teleological ethics, and Virtue ethics. In this paper I will be discussing the differences between Deontological and Teleological ethics as well as the problems with both. I will also discuss where my beliefs stand and compare them to others.
This paper explores the moral and ethical issues faced by managers involved in hiring new employees.
Death is often an unpleasant thought, even though it is a simple fact of life. For some it is a welcome event that can alleviate pain and suffering and can sometimes save the life of another.
